Viparyaya vritti?

"I am like everyone else - I see the world in terms of what I would like to see happen, not what actually does." - An excerpt from The Alchemist

Is he trying to explain viparyaya vritti? Abhyasa Vairagyabhyam Tannirodhan!! I will! One day... Some day... And that day... I will feel good about everything... Until then........ :-)

Swan Fighting

A friend tells me...
When Swans get into physical fights, mostly because of emotional issues, at the end of the fight... The swan flaps its wings. This releases the excess energy that got generated.

Well... the moment the words wings & flap reaches my ears... I start glowing. I fell in love with that image... flapping wings...

Of course... not only am I imitating the flapping of the wings in my parallel universe(imagination)... I also went in search of swan fights in youtube... :D In the video it was not the flapping of the wings that caught my attention. The whole thing looks like a huggy fight.

Wow! The whole thing was one heck of a wow for me... :-) Yes... swans can be ruthless... but still it was a wow moment for me...

If only I could let go of my E-go... I would love to get into a swan fight. Hey! Come on!! At least I am aware that I am clinging onto my Eeeee... :-P

Cleansed???

She {all excited}: Ooooo! Looks like your body has become overly cleansed thats why you are rejecting
unhealthy & unwanted food.

I am supposedly having the best of both the worlds. I can enjoy the food while I eat, BUT without affecting my weighing scale :-/

I dont know about you... but throwing up whatever I eat doesn't feature in my personal best-times-list!!!

Kavilammeeeee... when will this pass??????

Walk if Fat??

Me {to Kiddo after a long tiring day}: Maybe I should go for a walk.
Kiddo {in her piercing voice}: Why???? Have you become fat?

And then she goes on measuring me with her hand & says... "You are not that fat... Its okay even if you dont go for a walk tonight."

Jabaa! Jabaa!

A friend's attempt at cheering me up today.... :-)

Thank You Dear.... :-) I liked the red one... Maybe I should make that my profile picture... :-)

Fairness cream & Peach

Kiddo {with a smug look}: I know N uncle... He is the tall thin uncle who comes whenever we go to the
other N uncle's house. N uncle looks very peach. Does N uncle use girl's fairness cream to look that peach?

Yes! I admit! It sounds cute when it comes from "My Baby" :-D :"-)

PS.
Peach is the color she associates with fair complexion.

Reflected image

"In the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected."

Caught your breath? Calm now? Now have that glass of water! :-D I still haven't evolved to decode something like this even if it slaps me... I shamelessly flicked it from a book :-D Thanks to book store visit I made with  my friends :-)

But my question is... what will happen to the protagonist when there are no 'his eyes'? =-O

Gorilla Again!!

Kiddo {frustrated}: Amma! Your grammar is all wrong.
Me : Yes... I know
Kiddo : Doesn't any one correct it for you?
Me : When he was there, your achan used to correct it me.
Kiddo : Then?
Me {raking my brains}: Then... An evil friend of mine used to correct me.
Kiddo {drifting into pensive mode}: Hmmm.... So now there is no one to help you correct it for you.
Me : :-)
Kiddo {after more deep thinking}: Its okay... I will help you correct it from now.

Out of Mat.....

I have seen hardcore gymers & treadmillers go "wow!" whenever they hit the mat.

Today, when I was out of the mat... I went completely out of breath :-( That too on a mere 50m dash behind Kiddo's school bus!!!

Am far far away from being healthy... :-(

Sigh!

PS.
Yes! Kiddo went to school in her school bus... :-)

Vairagya

"Vairagya is putting stop to the craving for happiness.

If you examine yourself whenever you are miserable or unhappy, you will find that the misery is due to your desire to be happy.

Happiness is a mere idea in your mind. You think if you have something, you will be happy. " - Commentary on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra by SSR

Okay! Okay! Now wipe that grin off your face :-P

Delhi 6- Rehna Tu

I think... I have something towards songs from the movie Delhi 6...

Haath Tham chalna ho
Tho Dono ke daye haath sang kaise
Ek Daaya hoga ek baaya hoga

Yet... its Dil gira Dafatan that haunts me....
Dil..... gira... dafatan.............

But for now... enjoy...
Rehna tu..... hai jaisa tu.... thoda sa dard tu... thoda sukun.....

Complete lyrics from www.bollymeaning.com

Rehna tu, hai jaisa tu
Thoda sa dard tu, thoda sukoon
Rehna tu, Hai jaisa tu
Dheema Dheema jhonka, Ya phir junoon
Thoda sa resham, tu hamdam
Thoda sa khurdura
Kabhi tu ad jaaye, Ya lad jaaye
Ya khushboo se bhara
Tujhe badalna na chahoon
Ratti bhar bhi sanam
Bina sajawat, milawat
Na zyaada na hi kam
Tuhje chaahon, jaisa hai tu
Mujhe teri baarish mein bheegna hai ghul jaana hai
Tujhe chaahoon, jaisa hai tu
Mujhe tere lapat mein jalna rakh ho jana hai

Stay as you are
A little pain, a little relief
Stay as you are
slow like a gentle breeze, or a passion
A little silky, you are my love
A little rough
Sometimes you are stubborn, or fight
or are full of fragrance
Don’t want to change you
Not even in the least
Undecorated, Unaltered
Neither more nor less
I like you, just the way you are
I want to drench myself in your rain and get dissolved in it..
I like you, just the way you are
I want to get burnt in your flame, and burn away to ashes..

Tu zakhm de agar
Marham bhi aakar tu lagaaye
Zakhm pe bhi mujhko pyaar aaye
Dariya oooo dariya
Doobne de mujhe dariya
Doobne de mujhe dariya

If you give me wounds,
You soothe me too
I love even a wound like that..
Ocean, O Ocean (of love),
Let me sink (in that love)..

Haath thaam chalna ho
To dono ke daayen haath sang kaise
Ek daaya hoga, ek baayan hoga
Tham le, haath yeh thaam le
Chalna hai sang thaam le

If we have to hold hands and walk
how our right hands could be together
One would be right, and one would be left,
Hold my hands.. hold these hands
Hold as we have to walk together..

Partner??

Kiddo {coming out of her enlightenment moment}: Amma... I think you need a partner!
Me {coughing up whatever I was drinking}: Duh?
Kiddo {continues... unaffected by my dramatics}: In school, when I am alone I feel sad and feel like crying. So, if you have a partner, you will be happy and you will never have to cry.

She runs towards me, hugs me, showers me with kisses & runs back in her bouncy stride... Leaving a zapped me behind...

Kiddo... You have left me speechless!!!

Kavilammeeeeeeee... The time has come for the endurance potion!

PS.
She got the partner concept from her school, where the kids are paired up with their own classmates.
I still am not sure about her definition of partner for me O:-)

Body Mother

Kiddo {when done with her evening meal}: Amma... my body mother is saying I dont need any more food.

This time, I am letting her pass... I haven't heard anything like this in a while.... :-D

Analyze vs Synthesize

"You should synthesize. Analysis is one-to-one. Synthesis happens when you consider the complete
ecosystem. "

Hmmm... Wish I will grow up to synthesis the events whenever I am part of an event. One day... Some day... Maybe... Hopefully...

Vacation....

Kiddo {while heading home after our outing}: I dont feel like waking up early in the morning & going to
school tomorrow.

I found myself nodding in agreement with her statement. After 4 days of holidays, we just got used to the slow pace of life with just us. This Friday, when kiddo had her school holiday, I took off from work and gifted myself four days of far far away... away from reality... :-)

What did I do these four days? I have no clue!! I just remember disabling the data from my phone and moving in-and-around my place with Kiddo... :-) Now... we are enjoying the remaining few hours in this bubble... before reality kicks my ___ :-)

Dont mess with the Girl!

Kiddo & her sis (my niece) are on an ego ride. The whole of yesterday, they not only stayed away from each other but also ignored the other person's parents too. After a lot of coaxing(also teasing) from everyone around, some how they decided to stop ignoring the parents. This is the effect of the 'dinner invite' I sent out to my brother & family for tonight... :-)

The Note has been stuck on our front door & it says :

Saturday
Who All Are Allowed In :-
1 No Name Mamman
2 Rakhee Mami
3 Asha Auntie
4 Anandu Chettan
5 Manu Mamman

Who is not Allowed In :-
Nayana

NOTES:-
1. If Nayana comes in her family is never invited.
2. Nithin Mamman is also allowed in.
3. My Friends can also come in

Please read this notes
And who all are allowed and
who all are not allowed

Yes! Now stop shaking that stupid head of yours! I can identify with the genes she carries X-(

Oh! The reason for all these clashes... One of the gals pressed the elevator switch out of turn!!! This is day 2 of no talking... Wonder how long they are going to hang on to this... Maybe they had too much of each other...

Kavilammeeeeee..... @-(

Jumping the gun

He : Why do you flare up even without giving him a chance to listen to your side?

This was the observation he made when I flared up at a rickshaw driver when the driver was using cheap tactic to extract more money from us than that agreed upon initially.

These flares fly not only with rickshaw drivers. But on almost all the occasions. People who have interacted with me will be shaking their heads in agreement. Yes! And I can already see them making their agreement in their favorite modes of expression...

Kiddo... tonight... you asked me... why we fought... this would be one of the reasons..........

Random Drawings

Some drawings by Kiddo I bumped into while cleaning the house....

Lessons Series

A friend of mine has started a series on 'lesson no n' as part of her status. I am waiting for the lesson that would go... Never put your life on hold for anyone or anything...

Lets see whether it will feature in her lesson at all...

PS.
I am grateful to the concept named forgetfullness... I dont remember any of the lessons O:-)

Growing old????

Last weekend, a friend & I decided to visit a pub. I was completely jobless & disoriented and hadn't visited
one in years. He was bachelor after 7yrs(His wife is a very close friend of mine. So put a leash on your imaginations & insecurities!). He too hadn't been to one in these 7yrs. We wanted some noise... wanted to watch some energy being spent on the floor...

And thus... on a Saturday evening... we embarked on His car & started on with our mission.... Thats when we realize... Where do we go? Finally, we agreed upon a name that sounded familiar to both of us and I had a hazy memory of visiting that place. Well... am not stretching this story any further... we reach there... high on hopes... only to learn that this place has been closed down & out of business!!!

Not willing to waste all those time & effort both the lazy bums took on getting dressed... We pull our smart fones... google up & started to the nearest alternative. Well... that place was open but did neither have music nor a dance floor. Exasperated, we ask a bunch of youngsters who were hanging around. Thats how both He & I ended up at our final destination.

When the night ended & we were heading back home... We acknowledge to each other... we need to have more friends between the ages 24 & 27!!!

PS.
The mission was not a complete failure... We both got what we wanted to our heart's content :-)

Where is the talking??

Last three consecutive weekends, I hadn't taken up any activity & decided to stay in. It was difficult initially. The being stuck in life feeling was killing me. But when that feeling passed... I kept myself busy with all the trivials I could find around me at home. That was when it dawned upon me...

I am missing all those mindless straight from the heart types yakking.

Note to Self : Find a person who has time to listen to my yakking without judging about the contents. Still better, someone who wouldn't process whatever I say.

Sitting bone

In the yoga classes I attend, they used to say...
Sit on your sitting bone...
Bend down bringing the sitting up...
Let the sitting bone point towards the  sky....

Well.... thanks to 120km bike ride... I now have clear idea on the location & dimensions of my sitting bone!!!

how early is early

He : Okay... According to your clock, how early is early?

Should I say thanks to globalization? Every time someone says, we'll meet up in evening... I am always confused... is it the 5pm evening or 8pm evening? I end up asking the time inorder to avoid confusion.

Well... I was impressed with the innocence in this statement. Next time... maybe I too should try this... :-) Thank you my crazy friend for this line... :-)

Yet the hand involuntarily searches for that something... And when you go off balance.... you remember it all over again....

This is your mess... You have to deal with it all by yourself......

Proofs!

"Proof is connected with logic, and logic is very limited in its purview. It is the same with enlightenment and with love. Love cannot be proved or disproved. Someone's actions and behaviour is not a proof of love." - Commentary on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra by SSR

Its actually true that one interprets things the way they want to. Imagine telling "Someone's action and behaviour is not a proof of love" to a person high on negativity...

OMG!! The complexities of human mind!!

Sometimes its better not to do

When Kiddo expressed her interest in Yoga, both of us had this strange silent understanding... it is not I who should be introducing her to the concepts. And I signed her up for yoga classes at her school.

Last night, when I was reading - Patanjali's Yoga Sutra (Commentary by SSR) - Kiddo comes up & talks about Yoga. Our good night chat included names like Lord Shiva, BKS Iyengar and Patanjali.

Sometimes... its better to delegate... :-)

Viparyaya Vritti

viparyaya = error; false perception; false knowledge

"You will think things are the way they are not. Most of the time you impose your own views, ideas and feelings on others. You think that this is how the things are. This activity of the mind is called viparyaya. You may have an inferiority complex and, thereby, consider someone's behaviour very arrogant. Actually, they are not arrogant, and you are not being ill-treated by them. But you feel that you are being ill-treated by them. You feel that you have not been respected. It is because you do not respect yourself enough that you think that the others do not respect you. This tendency of your mind is viparyaya." - Commentary on Patanjali's Yoga Sutra by SSR

From pramaana (proofs) to viparyaya. I agree with the concepts... but how does one get out of these? Is there anyone wise enough to help the troubled soul? Is there anyone strong enough to lend a helping hand? Is there someone who is strong & wise & brave to..........

Kavilammeeeee....
