To try or attempt?

According to a friend, TRY is the word one uses when one is quite positive that the outcome is going to be negative. How many times have we heard someone say, 'I will try to come', never to see them on the promised date & location? I am not sure what else to call this new project of mine.

A close friend of mine who is an Art of Living activist wanted me to take part in the program - Yogathon - conducted by them. The target - 54sets of soorya namaskaar. In layman's term it translates to 108 soorya namaskaar. He shared me their 4 week training chart as well. He believes that I am active enough to achieve this feat in the speculated time. Well... I take one look at the training chart & I knew my body needs more time to reach that target, if it is to ever reach that target.

But more than reaching the target of 108 namaskaars, what excited me was the idea of doing something for yourself everyday. So, here I am ... promising myself that for the next three months .... I will keep working on my stamina, at a stable pace that my body can accommodate & keep increasing that count of soorya namaskaars. I am not stressed about the count 108. All I am asking myself is some commitment & dedication towards my promise.

Lets just watch this space to see how I am faring ... :)

name it!

Recently I had mentioned that kiddo & I started watching the soap opera "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?". This what transpired between us last night.

Kiddo : So, what name will they use?
Me : Whaaa?
Kiddo {puzzled} : What name will they give Pyaar?

The translation to the name of the program is, "What shall we call this love(Pyaar) of ours?"

PS. This soap is a rip off from any M'nB series ;)

journey back

He : He has moved from point A to point B. He badly wants to go back to A. But when he turns back, the journey back to A is an Herculean one. So he decided to move C which is easier to handle.

A friend of mine was trying to explain his version of the thought process of a friend of his. The other day a friend of mine who was contemplating a divorce was also saying the same thing.
She : Even if he says that he has changed, even though his statements sound genuine, I am not sure if I can go back by 2yrs & start all over again.

In these instances I am reminded of something I heard, "Once a person has moved from point A to point B, they can never go back to point A again."

The question that is hauting me is, are we trying to erase the path from A to B & then goto A? Why can't we take a step forward to a point without having to completely erase this path yet move ahead with life? Is that not possible? Maybe I haven't grown enough to understand all these. But hopefully, one day I will.

Route Me!!

Recently, when I was commuting by bus, I couldn't help eavesdropping on two youngsters sitting near by.
He1 : We have never been on 500C. May be we should to check that route. Have you been on 500C.
He2 : No! That day we had been on a 500, rite?
He1 : Yeaaa! But that was 500A. I am talking about 500C.
He2 : Oh! yeaaaa!
He2 is interrupted by a phone call.
He2 {after finishing his call} : She was asking whether we are on a mission to make the Bangalore Map? She was teasing us, we would miss out the alleys so should be walking instead of using the public transport.

At this point, I just couldn't hold myself back. I started talking to them. They were fresh graduates who came to Bangalore on work. So, when they have nothing else to do, they pick a random bus & get down at the last stop & visit the malls in that area.

Wish I could do something completely random like this ... :)

questions ....

Recently, I started following the soap opera "Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?". I started watching this program with my child. Two days into the program & we were having discussion on the hot guys in the program.

Kiddo : The black uncle is always angry. Why is he always angry?
Me : I don't know. Thats how he is. Maybe, he is thinking about something all the time.
Kiddo : I liked the blue uncle.
Psst! The Blue uncle is the antagonist of the program and the Black uncle is the protagonist.
Me : Hmmm! I like the black uncle.
Kiddo {pointing to middle of her upper lips & protesting} : He has a line there! He looks like a monkey!
Me {tugging her closer} : Maybe baby. But I like him.
Kiddo {all excited now} : So you want to marry him?
Me {laughing out loud} : No! I don't want to marry him :)
Kiddo : So, you want to kiss him??

somethings never change ....

Circa 1997
Mom to daughter : Never accept anything from strangers especially if they are edibles like biscuits, candy etc. People try to intoxicate you with these & rob you.
Daughter {considering the fact that she hardly carries anything expensive with her} : Duh???

Circa 2012
Same mom to Same daughter : Never accept anything from strangers especially if they are edibles like biscuits, candy etc. People try to intoxicate you with these & misbehave with you.
Daugher : Duh???
