Effrontery

"Leaving everybody to wonder where she had learned her effrontery from.

And truth be told, it was no small wondering matter.

Because Ammu had not had the kind of education, nor read the sorts of books, nor met the sorts of people, that might have influenced her to think the way she did.

She was just that sort of animal."

I know two people who can now give an actual word for what they are seeing - Effrontery!!

What would it be for You?

She {in an interview}: I found a range of craft supplies, perfect to sustain my hobby. So I wrote and asked if I could help the store with their blog and Facebook page. They were happy to have me onboard.

Yes... multiple threads at the same time!!

But if you were to do something like this...
Take that chance on something...
With no guarantee on any sort of outcome....

What would that one thing be for you???

Okkay!! Coming from a person who gets excited over a lot of things from yoga to scuba to 48hr marathons.... removing the one!! >:P

What would be that thing for you????

Ssssh!! I am trying to think here!!!

How it works for me!

He : http://www.pinterest.com/pin/272397477437142188/
He : :-)

Thanks a lot for sharing this with me... I agree, I do not feel relieved... But yes... I sure do feel lighter...

:-)
Thank you dear... Thanks a ton! :-) :-*

What amazed me more was... Neither of us needed that verbal confirmation that the 'my' in this image is not him. His point was something else... & I understood it without he having to explain... And he knew that I understood exactly what he meant without even uttering a word...

I am going to bookmark this conversation as a classic example of conservation of energy they speak about in Yoga sessions ;-)

How to explain???

Thanks to the new Karizma ad, I had to explain Northen Lights to Kiddo!!!!!

This is her feedback on my 20mins of lecture!!!

I think the only thing Kiddo understood was why would someone ride a bike on ice.

Kavilammeeeeee!!!!

Eyes on the road

Dedicating this post to all those people who irk me by attending those "important" calls while driving (and/or texting). The driver's response to the phone ring is interesting to watch. It always seem like those Action movies. It seems like.... Well.... as if.... nukes might fall on 10 major cities of the world if you miss that call!!!

Grrrrr......

Its in your eyes....

He :  You have that look!
Me :  What look?
He :  Eyes! Its like - Hug me if you have the guts!

Okkay!! I give all the credits for coming up with an innovative pick up line. But.....

Should I be concerned??????

Leaning

I was attending a yoga session - Asana with Props (if you ask me, I would say, it was a restorative yoga session). While helping the class on how to align & use the props, the instructor made this comment...
"Do not lean on it, even if it there is something"

I was immediately taken back to a very very old scene... I do not remember the context now... But I just remembered mentioning this to my brother
"Of course! The leaning happens because there is something to lean on!!!"

But it was only during this session that I experience...

One may lean... BUT..... do not put all your weight while leaning!!

Foolish Bride

"When she looked at herself in her wedding photographs, Ammu felt the woman that looked back at her was someone else. A foolish jewelled bride."

Now I know... That was exactly what I felt while flipping through my wedding photographs a few minutes back....

The woman looking back from those photographs was someone else...................

A Foolish Jewelled Bride!!!

14 years!

Its been 14yrs now. But what amazes me is he still has new stories to share from their gay days.

Ever since dad passed away, visiting his best friend has become a ritual even without our knowledge. What amazed me this time was... he still has a new story to keep me all wrapped up.

But the cherry this time around was........

Remember those scenes from the movies??? You know... the ones where they hide themselves in the boot of the car?? Yes! That one... Well... my dad successfully executed it 60yrs back!!

Apparently dad was not allowed to attend his elder brother's wedding. So he roped in his little brother and they hid themselves in the boot of the groom's car!!!

Now you know.... its an engineered feature...  not a manufacturing defect ;-) O:-)

Sorry Chocolate

Scene 1
He gets a chocolate... the elite Dairy Milk Silk. True to the ad... He takes an emotional trip to the day He threw her scrunchie into the commode. Comes out of his reverie & tells his mom... "Mama... this is going to be my Sorry Chocolate to Her. I will apologize for my behavior & share this with Her."
Mommy is all glowing with pride. After all, He is not sticking to the conventional Malayalee male image.

Scene 2
He walks into Her house. Both He & She barely acknowledges each others existence and walks in different directions. Meanwhile He casually tosses the 'Sorry Chocolate' around.
The Proud Mommy is now the Confused Mommy... What just happened???

Scene 3
We mommies get busy with our yapping... While it was time to leave, we mommies were confused about the status of the Sorry Chocolate. Did he give? Is he to take it back? Did he bring 2 chocolates?

Scene between 2 & 3
Apparently, while we were busy... He took that Chocolate & left it on Her study.

Scene 4
She {while his mommy was calling out to leave}: You left your chocolate.
He {As careless as he could be}: Its not mine.
She {I can vouch on Kiddo's life that I could hear a smug tone in her voice}: Then why are you leaving it here.
He {With all the arrogance a 9yr old could muster}: It is for you.
And they leave for the day...........

Ya ya! These Martian traits are demonstrated even at a very young age. Okok! Venusians are no better. Of course I can identify with this scene!!!!
Nobody said Sorry here...
Nobody acknowledged anything in front of the other...
Nobody is ever going to be caught feeling good about this entire episode....

Now... are they going to cling on their ego(or whatever) like we elders do? Or are they going to let go???

Oooo... I surely am going to watch this closely.... purely for academic reasons... ;-) O:-)

Give them

Kiddo : My friends want me to give you to them
Me {wondering whether this some punishment the kids have come for being the bad cop}: What????
Kiddo : They want to have you
Me : Jabaa?????
Kiddo {growing impatient}: They like your food. So they want you.
Me {exasperated} : My dear Kiddo!!! There are only 2 people in this world who finds it extremely difficult to come near my food, one is you.

Oh! Yea... Then there is this category of people who just doesn't find it worth remembering that I had prepared food & put on their plate to hog... I would be shocked if they ever remembered that I had prepared anything edible!

Note to Self : .....................................

What was that???

My 5yr old hunk : There are two friends. One called Brendon. The other called London.

Yea... It took me a few mins to understand what he meant.....

He has two friends... One is named Brendon... & the other friend called Brendon London!

Yes! We are all supposed to laugh when he reaches London... :-)

Thanks for that Influence

She {while having the food that I prepared}: Your mom has taught you well. How can she not? She too is a good cook.

And I go.... EXCUSE ME????????

If at all any one needs to be credited for my current state of cooking... that would be Kiddo's dad!! I found it extremely difficult to prepare something that he would really appreciate. Oh! A meal that he would appreciate AND not upset his sensitive digestive system.

But there is one thing I have to mention here... Off late... Whenever someone appreciates the meal I prepare... I silently thank him... If it wasn't for him..... I wouldn't have reached where I am today...

I am grateful for making me understand the importance of flavors in food. After all I am now capable of preparing food for my friends & family without poisoning them... ;-)

PS.
I passed this class with distinction when a friend who has lived in Mangalore for a very long time made this comment on my Chicken Ghee Roast (a Mangalorean delicacy).... "It tastes exactly like the ones I used to have from Mangalore."

Psst! This is where you guys start responding to the APPLAUSE card!

Susskuss!!!

Yes!! I think I have exceeded my own expectations.... I am now good for this year! I can just sit back & chill!!

I was able to bake this layered cake with frosting for Kiddo today. Thanks to my new roomie, the blending process was bearable.

Driving Away

She {exasperated}: Driving a person away requires a lot of effort.

Yeah! Babe!!
Come! Lets have a drink!
Cheers!!

Answer would Emerge

He {in a matter of fact tone & look}: Write down all possible needs... starting from important to the so called stupid... Keep staring at it for a while... I would say a week... the answer would emerge... This is the practical solution for illogical people!!

I do not know whether its the way you said it or that serious look on your face... or so I imagined... But you got me rolling on floor with laughter...

I am still laughing.... :-) :-) :-)

This is what happens when 5 girls are huddled in a room on a lazy Sunday afternoon!

The mastercard moment.... the 1.5 yr old girl joining the rest of the crazy ones.... :-)
