Relationships

Our fellow human beings are our mirror! What we particularly like in others is what we also love within
ourselves. What we don't like about others, we also reject within ourselves. We will encounter same people over and over until we have learned this lesson. When we are ready, people in our lives will change accordingly, or will disappear from our environment, others will take their place. This may sound hard, but it is unfortunately true. Isn't it true that other people frequently live out what we don't permit ourselves to do? Some people annoy us with their behavior. Perhaps they are premature in their judgments, verbally attack others, are hurtful in their thoughtlessness, don't really listen, make us nervous with their restlessness, think they know it all better, are mistrusting - the list is almost endless. How do we act and react? For quite some time now, I have been trying to decode the messages conveyed to me through other people for myself. How am I? How do I behave? What impression do I make on others? In doing this, I get to know myself better and have the opportunity to change. Sometimes we are afraid of other people and their reactions, which is why we let ourselves be manipulated and exploited. Or, by being on "good behavior" and serving others, we want to make them love us.

Disinfecting a Cake

A man finds a cake left open in the kitchen late at night. What would he do?

The paranoia in him, takes him to the land of cockroaches. That wakes up the logician in him. He scraps out the outer layers of the cake. Still not happy with his work of 'art', he decides to disinfect the cake. And how does he decide to do it?

Running...

A scene in one of the movies I watched recently caught my attention....

In this movie, the protagonist's wife keeps repeating, "Naadodumbol, Naduve oodanam". This saying roughly translates to - Keep up with the general trend.

One day our protagonist just loses it and screams out.... Something like this... "Why are you so obsessed with running? If you are so interested in running, why don't you do it in the courtyard!"

Yes! I know.... :-)

On another note, I feel... Unless you are ready
to stop, please don't even think about slowing your pace. It is extremely difficult to pick up the pace if you take even the slightest pause.

Live Music

That day, I went to be there for him & her. They were singing & I wanted to be part of it. The activities of that day(or was it days?) were not encouraging enough. It neither brought a smile on my face nor did it motivate me to move my lazy bones. Well, when it was time... I just decided to leave my personal things aside to go & watch them.

There was a huge crowd & I did not get any space to sit. While I was leaning on the door, I hear them strum their guitars and a group of 30 or more children broke into a song.

Ooooo... I just cannot explain the effect. It was amaaaazing... :-) Thank you my dear ones for giving me the opportunity to be part of something for the first time. Mmmmmuah!

Kiddo... we should do this together sometime... Missed you... >:(<

Malang

Ever since I made this my new status I have been asked, 'What is Malang?'. Well... here is the story...

I came across this word while listening to the promos of the song 'Malang' from the movie Dhoom 3. The line that caught my attention was
"Malang malang dum ishq ishq hai malang mera"

And.... I go in search of Malang... :-)

As for its meaning... This is what I have decided to pick up...
"it's more or less about someone who doesn't much care about his surroundings"

PS.
After bumping into this word, I noticed that it features in many of the songs. I like this one in particular... Dhunki... I just love the way they go...
"O Malang Hua
Dil Ye Mera
Hai Mast Malang Hua
Dil Ye Mera"

DAVID KANDA PENKUTTY A MALAYALAM SHORT FILM

I have read the blog post. I never realized its social impact until I saw this video. The impact of a casual comment, 'Aval sheri alla'!

All I can say is, I was really lucky to have in my life, at least one person, who saw beyond these comments & genuinely took the initiative to know the real me.

Girl's Things

Kiddo : Why do you look at girl's things???

Asks Kiddo to my guy friend who was ogling at a lady wearing a skirt. She was an attractive lady. And he being a typical male... went on to verbally expressing 'everything' he liked about that lady!

Do I have a feminist in the family? Or was she just curious?

PS.
Yes! His wife was rolling on floor laughing!

Hold Me......

Everyone has their own comfort grip... where they feel safe & secure... And I learn that when he holds me.... :-)

Nila Adhu Vanathin Mele

It is amazing what all joblessness can do to one. A few days back, I was smitten(again) by the 'feel' found in Tamil songs. I ping a Tamil friend of mine & I rant about my frustration in unable to understand the meaning of Tamil songs. I just feel great listening to them. But I have no understanding of the lyrics ever.

Two good things (according to me) came out of our conversation. One, I need to find a Tamil Brahmin for a boy friend. I do not remember how we narrowed down to the Brahmin category, but for now I would settle for their yummy idli/dosa & sambar... O:-)

Second, I bumped into this 'matter' song... :-D

Well, thanks to another friend of mine, I was able to get the English translation of the lines. As she says, "This song is the perfect example of a cheap, double-meaning crammed anthem of vulgarity :D". Well... now we know what 'matter' song means... ;-)

Before we move to the translation... I want to remind the other set of people who have promised me to give the English translation for some songs. Let this work inspire you... Moreover, this process will be a good break from the routine... ;-) O:-)

Sibling Ready!!

"Don't show me your tummy, okay?"

I was alerted by certain keywords & tone issued by Kiddo. My eyes move over the magazine I was flipping through to see whats going on. And even before I knew, my lips were breaking into a smile.

Kiddo was helping her 5yr old friend. He was struggling with his shirt's buttons. That was when Kiddo decides to help him out. And.... I do my bit of time travel.......

I found it extremely interesting... the manner in which Kiddo had evolved with this family. How she slowly accepted them as part of the family. The manner in which she grew into an elder sister... :-) Yes! When she is hungry and/or sleepy.... it is a completely different story. But... the way she has changed...... It was a slow change... but she did change... :-)

And now... she is ready for a sibling......

Kiddo... I will be challenging a whole lot of things... but... as soon as we acquire more bandwidth.... we shall give it a try... I really hope you will stand by me till the end... something this huge... I will not be able to pull off without your support.......

Bits of paper

I remember mom passing this comment on my brother...

"Even from a very young age, he just doesn't spare even the tiniest bit of paper. He has to read it!"

Looks like I need to customize that for Kiddo! ;-) O:-)
