Came across this part of the Hiranyakashyapu-Prahlada_Narasimha story recently..."He was in an extremely angry form known as Ugra Narasimha and or Jwala Nrisimha. The angry mode continued even after the demonic element namely Hiranyakashipu was destroyed. Shri Mahalakshmi then appeared in order to calm down the Lord and so she sat on His lap and held him and thus cajoled Him to attain the Shanti (peaceful) mode. Thus, the combined form of the Lord with Sridevi sitting on His lap came to be known as Lakshmi-Nrisimha."
