Vikalpah

Shabda Jnana Anupati Vastu Shunyo Vikalpah
When we imagine an object in our mind just by listening to some words, then it is called Vikalpa
                - Patanjali Yoga Sutras - made easy by Dr. Padiki Nagaraja Rao

Vikalpah is mentioned by Sage Patanjali as one of the activities of the mind. Vikalpa refers to the knowledge we store in our mind based only on the words we hear. Vikalpa refers to unreal & non-existent objects. These impressions are created within our mind, using our imagination.

What is the source of such an unreal impression???? It is nothing but the impressions we have already created. The ones that spawned from other impressions. The ones that we constructed based on the words we heard (or overheard).

Note : This explanation of mine is limited to my understanding of the writer's interpretation AND limited by my personal experiences and how I relate the theory with my personal experiences. Many times in my life, I have allowed myself to be carried away by activities caused by some insignificant shabdhas (words). The results???? I have burned couple of bridges - both internal & external ones. Thankfully, not all the bridges were of the same built. Some did withstand the fire, while some could be repaired.

Be attentive to the variations caused my the Shabdhas. Be mindful about what is important to you.

Checked!!

He : Do you want it? I can ask my cousin to get it for you. He is coming next week.

The trail seemed too long to my liking. But the No I stuck to meant a rather long wait. Moreover, I wasn't sure if I felt the same way towards the whole thing. All I can tell right now is.... the wait was soooo worth it. It had twice the kick as I would have otherwise had.... :-)

I am good for a very long time to come... :-) Time, as defined or redefined by me... ;-) :-D

Marriage

Marriage has its good side. It teaches you loyalty, forbearance, tolerance, self restraint, and other valuable qualities you wouldn't need if you stayed single.

Jonny kuttaaaaaa

You had me with that shy... dimpled... not-so-innocent smile when you appeared for Gladrags Manhunt... the V shape... the 4pack... Err... wasn't it so those days? Whatever... you get the picture rt? Well... to be honest... not coming 1st in that competition too worked its charm on me.... Blush! Blush!

But after that... all I could relate with you was... a SANE chunk of meat! SANE(Shock Adichalum No Expression) being absolutely expressionless even if you were to be electrocuted... Gee... :-D

For me... Shootout at Wadala too was a 'meat' play....

And then.... it happened.... I did that nose dive again with Madras Cafe!!! Aaaah! That was an awesome bet dear... awesome bet...

Or should I congratulate the director??? ;-)

Why was Earth made?

Kiddo : Do you know why God made the Earth?
Me{sensing something interesting} : No, I do not. Do you know why?
Kiddo : Yes... I do... {Taking time to think}... But I think I am wrong.
Me : Thats okay... You tell me, let me hear it out...
Kiddo{interleaving each sentence with a pause } : God made Earth so that he could put humans in it. God made Earth so that he could put humans in it so that they would pray to God. And God will do things after humans pray to God.

Mmmmmmmmmuah!

introducing MJ

One day, I introduced kiddo to these two talented young chaps. I also made her listen to the original version of this song at YouTube. An interesting series of questions ensued since then ...

Day 1
Kiddo : Amma, which language is he singing in?
Me {remembering the fake lyrics a friend of mine had come up with} : I think, its in English, what do you think baby?
Kiddo : {... in deep thought and no reply }

Day 3 (while watching the same video for a second time)
Kiddo : I think he is singing in Chinese. This doesn't sound like English

Day 5 (while watching another MJ video - Black or White)
Kiddo : Is he a boy or a girl
Me {trying hard not to burst out laughing} : Hes a boy!
Kiddo : Then why does he look like a girl?
Me : Very good observation. Next time you have any doubt on this guy, ask your favorite ammai (aunty) and/or mamman(uncle)
